Calibre is good. I'm not brave enough to install Savory, but I applaud your use of Calibre. Anyone who doesn't want to use this patch can download Calibre for free and do the conversion on your home computer before transferring your pdf-turned-mobi to your Kindle.
And @oatkucode; So far, ALL the e-readers mangle chart and table-heavy pdfs to some degree. They aren't really made to handle complex pdfs, but to convert text-based pdfs into readable novel-like formats. Even the e-readers that natively support pdf files are not so hot at managing complex ones. You can try Calibre, but I fear you'll get the same result with your foreign characters and mathematical equations.
Over at BlogKindle they've worked out some support for unicode characters, though. You might check that out and see if it helps.
